Datajack Information

As you may know, computer networking is always changing. Not only does the technology change, but the infrastructure does as well. This explains what type of data/voice jacks we use and how to properly use our data/voice jacks.

It is very important that you correctly identify your datajack number when calling the helpdesk.


AMP Datajack

This AMP jack is a singlegang jack that is the most widely used across campus. These jacks can come in a variety of configurations including single and dual voice/data combonations.

  • Voice = label will begin with a "V" (could be single or dual)
  • Data = label will begin with a "D" (could be single or dual)
  • F Connector = CABLE T.V (not shown in picture above)

Krone "Singlegang" Datajack

This Krone singlegang jack is one of our newest types on jacks on campus. You will find this jack in all of the Townhouses, Social Science building and other newly renovated buildings or offices.

  • White jack = VOICE (label will begin with a "V")
  • Blue jack = DATA (label will being with a "D")

Krone "Duelgang" Datajack

This Krone dualgang jack uses the same technology as the singlegang jack but is double the size to accomdate more connections. This example shows a cable T.V connecter (F Connector)

  • White Jack = VOICE (label will begin with a "V")
  • Blue Jack = DATA (label will begin with a "D")
  • F Connector = CABLE T.V (label will begin with "TV")
