Making Calls
On-Campus Calling
To make an on campus call, simply dial the four digit extension of the person you are calling.
Off-Campus Local Calling
- To make an off campus call, first dial an 8 to get an outside line.
- Dial 1, the area code and telephone number you are calling.
- After dialing the number, listen for a double-beep tone and key in your authorization code. You will be forced to enter your authorization code for ALL numbers dialed. (local, long distance, toll free and information) This will be followed by a triple-beep tone which indicates that your authorization code has been accepted and your call is being placed.
Off-Campus International Calling
To make an international call: Dial 8, 0, 1, 1, country code, city code, phone number, your authorization code
Hold
Hold allows you to temporarily hang up a line, either to take a call on another line or to attend to another matter without disconnecting your caller.
To put a caller on Hold
- Press Hold
- Hang Up
To reconnect
- Press Line Button of Call on Hold
- Pick Up Receiver
Transfer
Transfer allows you to transfer a call to another extension.
- Press Transfer
- Dial Extension Number
- The person who will be receiving the transfer will pick up. Let that person know who is being transfered
- Hang Up
Park
Park allows you to transfer a call to an extension and hold it there.
- Press Park or # * 6
- Dial New Extension Number
- Hang Up
Forwarding Calls
Call Forwarding allows you to have your calls ring at another extension.
To Forward Your Calls
- Get Dial Tone
- Press Forward or # 9
- Dial Extension Number
- Hang Up
To Cancel Call Forwarding
- Get Dial Tone
- Press Forward or # 9
- Hang Up
Call Waiting
Call waiting lets you know when another party is calling you when you are on the phone. You will hear a Beep and your Call Waiting light will flash to notify you that another caller is on the line.
Please inform your callers that they should remain on the line after hearing a busy signal when calling you. They will hear five busy tones and then silence. At this point you will hear a beep on the line and the call waiting light will light up on your phone. Press connect to accept the call waiting.
To connect to the Other caller
- Press Connect
To reconnect to your original call
- Press Connect again
Station Speed Call (Speed Dial)
Station Speed Call allows you to set up single digit codes for your frequently called numbers. You can then dial one number to make an outside call.
To Set Up a Station Speed Call Code
- Get Dial Tone
- Press Station Speed Twice or # # 3
- Dial the number to be assigned to the Speed Dial
- Then...
- For Off-Campus Calls: Dial 8, 1, Area Code, and the Outside Number (You can enter your access code at this point or wait until your place your call)
- For On-Campus Calls: Dial Extension
- Hang Up
To Make a Call using Station Speed Calling
- Get Dial Tone
- Press Station Speed or # 3
- Dial the appropiate Dial Station Speed Code
Autodial PhoneMail
To set the message waiting autodial button to dial directly into phonemail.
- Get Dial Tone
- Press # # 3 0
- Dial Your Direct Access PhoneMail Number (2053 for Students, 2050 for Faculty & Staff)
- Hang Up
To autodial phonemail when your message lamp in flashing
- Get Dial Tone
- Press Message Waiting Feature Button (Message Waiting)
- Receive Message or Follow PhoneMail Voice Instructions
- Hang Up
Callback Camp On
Callback camp on calls you back with a long ring when the busy extension becomes free.
To camp on to a call
- Listen for the Busy Signal
- Press Camp or # # 1
- Hang Up
To cancel
- Get Dial Tone
- Press Camp or # # 1
- Hang Up
Connecting to a Camped-On Call
Connect allows you to connect to a camped-on call, a call waiting call, a parked call, or a newly available outside line.
To accept a camped on call, a call waiting call, a parked call or a newly available line
- Press Connect
To reconnect with a transferred call or alternate between parties
- Press Connect
Changing Ring Tones
You can change your telephone's ring tone to any one of eight tones.
- Get Dial Tone
- Press * 5 7 2
- Press Single Digits (1 Through 8) ro Hear Various Tone Pitches. The last digit you key in before you hang up will produce the ringing tone of your telephone.
