Campus Alerts and Closing Notifications

When faced with a critical incident or inclement weather that necessitates the delayed opening or closing of TCNJ offices, or the cancellation of classes and campus events, the Office of Public Affairs will distribute pertinent information via any or all of the following:

• Text-message
• Mass e-mail
• Voicemail
• An alert on the College's Web site (www.tcnj.edu)
• Campus voicemail
• TCNJ's Hotline (609.637.6000)
• Updates to the Critical Incident Web page (www.tcnj.edu/~ccr/critical/)
• Parents listserv
• Faculty listserv
• Other available communication channels

Please refer to the College Web site (www.tcnj.edu), TCNJ e-mail, and the text-message system as your first sources of information. They can be updated more rapidly than the other lines of communication. The College will, however, use whatever communication methods it deems appropriate upon assessment of all available information and risks in specific situations.

It is the College's desire to remain open and allow classes to meet whenever possible, but this priority must be balanced against safety concerns. Determinations about weather-related closings, cancellations, or delays are made based upon a variety of factors, including:

• State, county and local road conditions;
• Updated weather forecasts; and,
• Status of campus snow and ice removal operations.

All members of the campus community, regardless of the status of College operations, are encouraged to use personal judgment and make safe decisions as to driving in inclement weather.

Radio Stations

In the event of College closing due to hazardous weather conditions, the following radio stations will broadcast delayed opening and cancellation announcements. Employees should note that closing or delayed opening announcements for state offices may not apply to TCNJ employees. Employees should listen specifically for the college's name.
