TCNJ Alumni Association Presents Awards to Exceptional Alums April 7

Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey Alumni Association will honor three local men for their outstanding community service contributions at its annual Leadership Convocation on Wednesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. Guy Chiarello, class of 1981, Will Walker, class of 1953, and Marc Edenzon, class of 1985 will be honored at the free event, which will take place in the Music Building, followed by a dessert reception. Guy Chiarello, a Trenton resident, will receive the Alumni Citation, the College’s highest honor, which recognizes individuals for outstanding community service and continued support to TCNJ. Currently, Chiarello works at Morgan Stanley, where he serves the company as its Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer. He also is a partner in Chiarello’s Catering in Hamilton, and has been active in coaching both youth basketball and soccer programs throughout Mercer County.


In addition to his professional endeavors, Chiarello has, in conjunction with Morgan Stanley, participated in raising more than $400,000 within the past 18 months for regional and national charitable organizations, including Children’s Village, The Jimmy Fund and DonorsChoose.


Chiarello earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from TCNJ.


Wilbur Walker, a West Trenton resident, will receive the Distinguished Service Award, given to an alumnus or alumna who has provided exceptional service to The College, his/her class, the Alumni Association or TCNJ students. Walker has committed 34 years of service to the Alumni Association. He and his wife Lois are frequent contributors to the College’s fundraising efforts, and most recently aided in the endowment of a School of Education scholarship, which was awarded for the first time this year. Walker and his wife have established legacies throughout the campus, ranging from gifts of American holly trees to named chairs in the renovated Kendall Hall.


Walker served as an educator of industrial arts in the Pennsbury (PA) School District, and has since retired. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology Education from TCNJ, as well as a Master’s in Industrial Arts.


Marc Edenzon will receive the Humanitarian Award, presented to an alumnus or alumna who has demonstrated concern for human welfare through philanthropic activities. Since 1985, Edenzon has devoted his time to Special Olympics New Jersey, based in Lawrenceville, where he has managed and developed sports training programs and has helped serve more than 13,500 athletes statewide. Special Olympics New Jersey holds its Summer Games at TCNJ’s campus and it is among the highlights of the College’s schedule of special events.


Edenzon, of Belle Mead, earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from TCNJ.


The Alumni Association’s annual convocation is an event that celebrates and encourages leadership in both the college and alumni communities of TCNJ. Among the attendees this year include current student leaders who have received special invitations from the association.
