Over 100 Trenton students to participate in TCNJ’s Youth Development Institute on Wednesday, November 28
EWING, NJ … More than 100 students from around Trenton will visit The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, November 28 to participate in variety of engaging, entertaining, and educational workshops. These workshops, delivered by first-year TCNJ students and TCNJ faculty and staff, are part of the Youth Development Institute organized by the College’s Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement, students in the Bonner Community Scholars Program, and five community partner organizations—in conjunction with TCNJ’s First Seminar Program.
The institute will commence at 10a.m. with campus tours and workshops in various locations around campus. Some students from after-school programs will arrive at 3:30 p.m.
“This day is a great illustration of the College putting its mission and values in action,” said Patrick Donohue, director of the Bonner Center. “We strive to collaborate with our community partners to educate our students while simultaneously advancing the needs and interests of their organizations—in this case, we hope to help our partners further develop the academic and social skills of young people from Trenton.”
Participating students represent several schools and organizations from Trenton, including Trenton Medical Arts High School, Columbus School, Boys and Girls Club (Monument and Mott School sites), Young Scholars Institute, and the Academic Sports Academy.
