Creative Colleges Names TCNJ a Top School for Budding Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians, and Writers
EWING, NJ … The second edition of Creative Colleges: A Guide for Student Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians and Writers has named TCNJ as one of the top 200 programs in the nation for creative students. This guide is aimed at college-bound creative students and gives them the information and resources necessary to pick the right program. To this end the author, Elaina Loveland, meticulously researched programs from across the country and ultimately selected 200 art, drama, dance, music and creative writing programs in arts conservatories, liberal arts colleges and universities to recommend to prospective students.
Unlike the average student, many creative types begin pursuing their dreams by the time they reach their late teens—and therefore, their college search is usually much more specific. This guide helps creative college-bound students learn step-by-step how to get into college including tips on auditions, admission essays or artistic statements, artistic resumes and portfolios, the SAT and ACT and financial aid.
The book includes real-life profiles of students in each discipline, day-in-the-life snapshots and answers to frequently asked questions from admissions directors. Included is insight from both students and faculty members.
Loveland originally aspired to become a professional dancer but followed her interest in writing instead. As a professional writer and editor for nearly a decade, she formerly served as editor of National Association for College Admission Counseling’s Journal of College Admission. She is also the author of Creative Careers: Paths for Aspiring Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians and Writers.
