Alum’s book a major motion picture
The Spiderwick Chronicles opens nationwide on February 14
EWING, NJ … In a 2005 interview in TCNJ Magazine, Holly Black, a ’94 alumna, said, "I planned and tried and wanted to be a writer, but I never, ever thought I would be able to live off my own writing."
Little did she know then that her stories would someday hit the big screen. She is the author of the popular and highly acclaimed set of children’s books The Spiderwick Chronicles. Now, Paramount Studios and Nickelodeon movies have condensed the five-book series into a major motion picture. The movie will be released in theaters and IMAX on February 14.
The Spiderwick Chronicles is the story of twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace; their sister, Mallory; and their mother. After the Graces move into the Spiderwick Estate, they find themselves pulled into an alternate world full of faeries and other creatures.
