TCNJ's identity system is not intended to stifle creativity. Ideally, those producing College publications
will focus creative energy on the language and images that best convey their messages rather than revisit the
ground rules for presenting the College's identity. Here are a few cover designs that illustrate the
flexibility possible within the system.
It may be helpful to point out that a logo is not a publication title. In most instances, the "prime real
estate" of the front cover should
be devoted to prominent treatment of the subject or title of the publication, with a small logo
(shield and wordmark) placed on the front
or back cover or on the mailing panel.

Design A
Sample A illustrates how the entire logo (shield and wordmark) is positioned over an uncluttered section of the photo.
The title of the publication is placed in a white box for legibility. |

Design B
in sample B, the shield is used alone, but is supported by the placement of the entire logo
(shield and wordmark) on the back cover. |

Design C
In sample C, the cover is devoted to the title of the publication and an image. The full logo,
in horizontal treatment, appears on the back cover of the brochure with contact information.
NOTE: The complete logo, as well as the mailing addresses and contact
information, should appear on the back cover of all external publications. |
