Stationery often makes the first impression, and is one of the College’s most important expressions of its identity.

The letterhead design provides prominent treatment of offices and departments within the College, and generous space for addresses and contact numbers. Its configuration allows optimal use of the sheet when a letter is typed as shown. The recommended font typing is 10-point Palatino regular. Ten-point Hoefler Text or 10-point Times New Roman may be substituted.

Standard letterhead, envelopes, business cards, and business reply mail are to be ordered through http://www.tcnj.edu/~ccr/osdos.html, the College's online stationery ordering system.

Below is the typing format for the official TCNJ letterhead. The date is typed two inches from the top of the page so that it aligns with the first lines of the office/department name and address. After three line spaces, type the outgoing address. After one line space, type the salutation. After another line space, start the body of the letter. The left margin is 3/4 inch, and the right margin is 3/4 inch. The bottom margin is one inch.

Insert one line space between paragraphs, using no paragraph indents, and aligning left/no justifying. Set line spacing to 13 points by highlighting text, opening the “Format” menu and choosing “Paragraph.” Under “Line Spacing,” set the pull-down menu to “Exactly” and then type in 13 in the “At” box. Secondary paragraphs should be handled as follows:

Indent secondary paragraphs 3/16 inch from both the left and right margins. Insert one line space between paragraphs with no paragraph indents, left alignment/no justifying as shown.

The closing should follow after one line space, with three line spaces between the closing and name. Applicable personal information for the sender—title, personal phone, fax, or e-mail address—should be typed below the name.

For P.S. information: Insert two line spaces between the correspondent’s personal contact information and the postscript. Any codes or typist’s initials should follow after an additional two line spaces.
