TCNJ Faces MAJOR state budget cuts

Dome Governor Jon Corzine delivered his annual state budget address on March 21, 2006, in Trenton. The $30.9 billion spending plan for fiscal year 2007, which begins July 1, 2006, contained particularly bad news for the higher education community, as the governor proposed drastic cuts to base appropriations as well as the elimination of several vital programs.

Multicultural lecturer explains "the trouble with islam"

Manji Irshad Manji, best-selling author and award winning TV personality, addressed the campus community on March 1 as part of the Multicultural Lecture Series. In her lecture, which corresponded with her book The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim's Call for Reform in Her Faith, Manji explained her concerns with modern Islamic practice while focusing on the question, “How do we treat the other?”

Forensics Director Receives Grant to Analyze New Inks

With a recent grant from the Department of Justice/National Institute of Justice, John Allison is once again hitting the lab and resuming his role as TCNJ’s resident forensic researcher. The professor of chemistry and director of the Forensic Chemistry Program has received research support in the amount of $261,000 for the purpose of analyzing new types of ink.

TCNJ welcomes Children's mini-museum to campus

On March 29, The College of New Jersey officially opened its doors to Kidsbridge, a mini-museum “learning lab” located on the first floor of Forcina Hall, welcoming a cutting-edge partnership between the College and Kidsbridge Children's Museum that will immerse elementary school children, undergraduate education majors and their education professors in diversity appreciation and character education.

Acclaimed artists welcome wilder society to tcnj

“The Thornton Wilder Society at TCNJ: A Celebration,” took place on campus on March 20, gathering a number of literary and theatrical figures, all attracted to the opportunity to discuss and honor the renowned playwright and novelist.

TCNJ gears up to host 31st annual computer festival

TCF The world’s oldest and largest personal computer show will once again take place this spring at The College of New Jersey. Local and international fans alike will gather for this highly anticipated yearly event. Trenton Computer Festival (TCF), now in its 31st year, is slated for the weekend of April 22-23.

Children learn to 'read math' at center-sponsored event

Let's Read Math On March 21, faculty, staff, and their children enjoyed a night of learning at Dr. Claire Passantino’s “Let’s Read Math” program, sponsored by the Center for Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering at the College. More than 80 filled Brower Student Center room 202 for an evening of linking literacy and numbers.

March Sports Highlights

Relay The College of New Jersey women’s lacrosse team will be sponsoring a fundraising event for the America Cancer Society in conjunction with the team’s home game against Salisbury University on April 15 at 1:00 p.m. in Lions’ Stadium.
