Dido and Aeneas

The College of New Jersey's Lyric Theatre performs "Dido and Aeneas," England's oldest opera. TCNJ's Lyric Theatre's production of this Baroque opera promises to be different and perhaps unique in concept and staging. The Director is Aaron Cromie '94, who has received grants from the Jim Hensen Foundation and is a John Barrymore Award winner. Cromie's concept is realized with the use of masks and puppetry and a minimal set using a variety of pieces to suggest scene and location. Keeping with the "avant garde" nature of the production, Music Director and Conductor, Robert Guarino has scored the opera for a chamber ensemble of woodwinds, including saxophone quartet, along with cello, bass and harpsichord.
