MUSE Program

robotics

TCNJ undergraduate students spend eight weeks in residence at The College of New Jersey during the summer, conducting research or engaging in creative activity in mentored collaboration with TCNJ faculty.

The program funds research stipends and on-campus housing for the students, and consists of a vibrant mix of ideas and projects in the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, and in the professional disciplines of Engineering, Education, Business, and Nursing/Health/Exercise Science.

MUSE includes a coordinated program of intellectual and social activities to build an exciting community of scholars that reaches across all academic disciplines.

A 3-D Tomographic Investigation of the Upper Mantle Beneath Tuscany

earthProfessor Maggie Benoit, Kelly Liszweski '10 and Megan Torpey '11 collaborated on two seismology projects. They studied the upper mantle below Northern Italy for active subduction zones, which produce large earthquakes, and they set up seismic stations in nearby states to collect new data.

Classifying Online Captioned Television Documentaries for Use as an Instructional Tool to Teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing

DeafProfessor Barbara Strassman, Hillary MacDonald '10 and Lindsay Wanko '10 analyzed captioned video content to create resources for educators of deaf and hard of hearing students.

Human Testing of an Orthotic, Assistive Exoskeleton for the Hand

roboticsUnder the guidance of Professor Brett BuSha, Oluwabunmi Olaloye '10 and Michele Rotella '10 tested the functionality of an exoskeleton built to restore normal pinching and grasping finger motions in human hands.
