Drupal Content Management Solutions
Drupal is a free software package that allows a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. Drupal is open source software licensed under the GPL, and is maintained and developed by a community of thousands of users and developers.
TCNJ Student Organizations
TCNJ currently has over a hundred student organizations that publish web content. Each group creates its own content management strategy and uses web tools provided by Information Technology, or custom applications developed by students, or tools available for free on the web. This decentralized approach makes it difficult for many groups to maintain their web content because they do not have the skills to develop an effective content management strategy. In Fall 2007, Web & New Media Initiatives and Student Activities introdued a centralized approach to content management utilizing Drupal, an open-source web-based system. This approach includes a comprehensive strategy for workflow, user management, and expansion of content tools. Web Initiatives will continue to work with various stakeholders to develop solutions to empower groups to effectively manage their own web content. These solutions may also encourage 55+ student organizations without sites to establish a web presence for the first time.
TCNJ Intranet
Web & New Media Initiatives is currently gathering requirements for configuring Drupal as an intranet solution.
