Welcome to the home page of the Philosophical Society at The College of New Jersey.
Philosophy is the broadest, deepest and richest of all the branches of intellectual inquiry and it provides the necessary basis for all other disciplines of thought.
The purpose of the Philosophical Society is to foster and support philosophical thought in the campus community: to introduce students to philosophy, provide resources for those who are interested in the discipline, and create opportunities for the philosophically inclined to discuss a wide range of topics from a philosophical perspective.
The society holds meetings designed to promote thought, inquiry and an appreciation of the principles, which, in underlying our thoughts and guiding our actions, are an essential part of our lives.
Meetings are held on alternate Tuesday nights at 8 in the Philosophy Department Conference Room, Bliss Hall, Room 101. Anyone is welcome to speak, and no one is obligated to speak; anyone is welcome to walk into or out of a meeting at any time. The officers of the Philosophical Society look forward to seeing you at our next meetings.
