New Regions and New International Trade Aspects 1982 to 1986
At this point in my career some major changes occurred. In was now working for (Kayser- Roth) Corp., a unit of the (Gulf & Western) conglomerate as a manager in their International Division. Up to this point my work experience has covered direct/indirect importing, contract manufacturing, product development and quality control, procurement, distribution and sales primarily apparel products. In this new position I expanded my exposure both geographically and functionally. Kayser-Roth's business was originally women's hosiery and then they expanded into Women's swimwear/sportswear and controlled the ("Oscar de la Renta") brand for menswear. This division engaged in several types of businesses. We imported various women's underwear/sleepwear under the Kayser-Roth brand as well as high quality men's shirts with the Oscar de la Renta brand for distribution in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Although the NY office controlled most of these activities, a large part of the sales, distribution and warehousing took place in our (Santurce), San Juan, PR office.
