Programming
Some special programs that the area staff is responsible for include Framing Your Future, Spring Event (a fun interactive educational activity).
Framing Your Future is a joint venture between the Upperclass Area and the Career Services staffs held on a Saturday in November. The purpose is to provide quality career guidance to students through education and interaction with alumni and corporate sponsors. With the reorganization of the Office of Residential and Community Development, our responsibility in this program has shifted to advertising and recruiting community members to become involved in this program. The Graduate Assistants coordinate the staffs' participation in the event.
The Spring Event (ESP) was an idea created by the previous Upperclass AD as a way to provide a social opportunity for the area students. The area student staff was consulted, and a carnival theme was agreed upon. This has since morphed into a creative program designed by the area staff. During the academic year 03-04 the area decided to do a program entitled ESP. ESP challenged participating members to have fun while simultaneously learning about the perceptions of their peers.
The overall programming goals for the Upperclass area is to create a series of programs primarily geared towards the more mature resident. The Upperclass resident should be exposed to educational programs that challenge them to gain invaluable independent living skills and/or prepares them for career development.
