Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME SettingsThese instructions are assuming that you've successfully installed the network card into your computer and Windows 95/98 recognizes it. Now, we're going to take you through the network settings step by step. Step 1 - Click the Start button, select Settings, and then select Control Panel from the menu. Next, you're going to double-click on the Network icon. You should now see a window like the one shown below.
You may have a different card and different protocols listed in the top box, and you'll need to use the Add and Remove buttons in the window to adjust that box so that all that remains in it is your network card and the TCP/IP protocol. (The TCP/IP protocol can be added by clicking Add, selecting Protocol from the next window, and then selecting Microsoft from the left menu box that appears and TCP/IP from the right menu box). Step 2 - Once your Network window looks like the one above, double-click on the TCP/IP protocol and bring up the window shown below. The settings on your computer should match the settings in the pictures below.
Provided you have corectly filled out your application and we have processed it, the only thing standing between you and a working connection is simply rebooting your computer. To confirm that your connection is working once you've rebooted, click on the Start button and then select Run. In the Run field type "winipcfg" as shown below and click on OK. Run winipcfgThe small window that pops up is the Windows IP Configuration box. In this box you have to select the name of your network card from the drop down menu. When that is displayed, the box labeled IP Address should look something like "159.91.xxx.xxx" where the x's can be any number. Below is an example of what it should look like with a working connection.
