Microsoft Windows XP Wireless Settings

These instructions are designed to describe the basic steps of setting up a Wireless device under Microsoft Windows. The actual steps may vary between the different brands of devices.

  1. Attach your USB PCI or PCMCIA device to the proper USB PCI or PCMCIA slot.
  2. Allow the Windows auto configuration wizard to complete.
  3. Click on Start Menu and choose Control Panel.
  4. Double-click on Network Connections from the dialog that pops up.
  5. Look for Wireless Network Connection, right click on it and choose properties.
  6. Choose the Wireless Networks tab from the box.
  7. The word TCNJTRANS should be listed under the Preferred networks heading. Click on the Properties button underneath it.
  8. In the new dialog box that pops up, put a check in the Data encryption (WEP Enabled) box.
  9. Next, put a check in the box next to Network Authentication (Shared Mode).
  10. Then, enter the network key of c5adc92f40 in the two network key boxes.
  11. Click OK to save the changes.

Note: After this your network connection should be ready to go. You can double-click on the Wireless Network icon in the bottom right of your screen to check your connection status. You should see a signal strength as well as activity of packets being sent and received
