These are the minimum guaranteed specifications for student personal computers. If your computer does not meet or exceed the following for the version of Microsoft Windows you intend to use, we will do our best to provide a connection for you, but we will not guarantee that it will work.

A 400 MHz Intel Pentium or compatible processor
32 megabytes of RAM
A 10/100 network interface card (NIC) with a RJ-45 port

Microsoft Windows 2000/XP

If your computer requires an half-height NIC, you must purchase this hardware independently from us.

For purchasing third-party network hardware, RES.net recommends the following specifications:

Must be a 10/100 Ethernet Adapter
Must have an RJ-45 jack (looks like an oversized phone jack)
Must be a Category-5, straight-through Ethernet cable (not a crossover cable)
Network cable is recommended to be a length of 25' or less
