How Entrepreneurs engage in Mushroom Management
The way the entrepreneurs used to do "mushroom management" with me, at least, was to put off my questions and concerns with sensitive but noncommittal and ultimately meaningless statements such as the following:- That would be great! (...as in Lumbergh -- pictured -- from Office Space)
- The meeting went very well.
- We'll take care of you.
- We'll do what's appropriate.
- We'll make sure you have what you need.
- We're talking to the right people.
Nowadays, I try to ask questions that are as specific as I can make them. Make the bullshit walk! :-)
