Humans have been sailing and exploring the oceans almost as long as they have been on the planet Earth. Thousands of years ago ancient sailors used nothing more than small ships carved out of trees, the sun, moon, stars and their own eyes to map and explore the oceans. Now sailors use ships as large as small cities, made of metal and steel, satellites far above the planet, and computers to not only map the ocean but also to analyze any aspect of the oceans they want
