Guest Speaker: Tony Porter

Due to space limitations this event is by invitation only to Athletes and Greek Letter Orgs.
Tony Porter is a co-founder of "A Call to Men, the National Association of Men and Women Committed to Ending Violence Against Women." Mr. Porter also serves as male spokesperson for the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA). He analyzes and focuses on the problems of sexism as it relates to sexual assault, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and all forms of violence against women.

Sexual Assault Awareness Movie Night

To start off Sexual Assault Awareness Week, the Office of Anti-Violence Initiatives will be holding a free screening of "Tape," a ground-breaking independent film starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Robert Sean Leonard. This film explores the intricacies and complexities of sexual assault and how relationships are forever changed. A panel discussion will follow the movie. Snacks and refreshments will be provided to all attendees!

Take Back the Night Rally

Take Back the Night is an international rally and march that is organized in local communities with the purpose of unifying women, men, and children in an awareness of violence against women, children, and families. The event is a collaboration of community and campus and other interested persons who are ready to take a stand against violence and make the night safe for everyone. Sponsored by TCNJ's Women's Center.

Sexual Assault Awareness Coffee House

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Office of Anti-Violence Initiatives, along with other campus and community groups, will be holding a free Coffee House featuring information tables, an open microphone for musicians, poets and speakers, and other interactive events. Beverages and baked goods will be provided to all attendees. This event will help create an open dialogue about sexual assault on campus and how it affects everyone's lives, as well as provide important resources to students, staff, faculty, and community members.

A peer interactive theater troupe comprised of diverse students dedicated to educating the community on issues of interpersonal violence. SCREAM stands for Students Challenging Realities and Educating Against Myths. The students in SCREAM create and perform eye-opening, improvisational, interactive skits for their peer and other individuals within the community. Sponsored by WRC, Sigma Pi.

Sexual Assault Panel

A panel will discuss the topic, "Sexual Assault: It's on our campus. What are we going to do about it?" Panel members include a passionate student perspective from the WRC, Professor Elizabeth Spohr from Women & Gender Studies, representatives from the local law enforcement, and Womanspace. Jackie Deitch-Stackhouse will moderate. Sponsored by Sigma Pi.
