Frequently Asked Questions

What is Student Anti-Violence Education (SAVE)?

The Student Anti-Violence Education (SAVE) Program is part of the Office of Anti-Violence Initiatives (OAVI), located in Suite # 159 of Eickhoff Hall. Focused on empowering TCNJ students to make healthy lifestyle choices and our campus community a safer place, SAVE hopes to achieve the following mission:

To serve as spokespersons, student mentors, and referral agents for the Office of Anti-Violence Initiatives (OAVI). Supervised by the Coordinator of OAVI, the SAVE Peer Educators provide evidence-informed programming to empower students with healthy relationship skills and to promote prosocial bystander behavior.

The program and its leaders believe that students can play a uniquely effective role in encouraging their peers to consider and talk honestly about the issues of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking, while developing responsible habits and attitudes towards these issues, as well as seeking professional advice when necessary.

What do SAVE Peer Educators do?

Student Anti-Violence Educators have completed a training program that enables them to create positive changes in the TCNJ community by spreading awareness about sexual violence to their peers.  In conjunction with The Office of Anti-Violence Initiatives, the SAVE Peer Educators are leaders in the primary prevention of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking through educational health outreach programs that they plan and facilitate in an effort to make the campus community healthier, safer, and more enjoyable. It's about friends positively influencing friends.
