Student Leadership Awards
Application and Nomination Guidelines
GUIDELINES
Prior to applying or nominating someone for a Student Leadership Award, readers should review this list of Guidelines that apply to all awards. Any questions or concerns which arise regarding these guidelines or application process may be sent to Tim Asher, Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development, via email at ashert@tcnj.edu or Lynette Harris, Director of Community Standards at lharris@tcnj.edu.
1. All individual applicants must be in good college standing at the time of application and at the time of the award ceremony. Good college standing shall be defined as (1) free of probation and (2) without restrictions in residence, college-wide disciplinary probation, or higher level disciplinary sanctions (college-wide probation with restrictions, suspension or dismissal).
2. All student organizations must also be in good college standing at the time of application and at the time of the award ceremony, including but not limited to current registration with the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development and free of any Greek or college-wide disciplinary action.
3. All individual applicants must be full-time students taking a minimum of 12 credits with the exception of seniors in their graduating semester who must be taking a minimum of 4 credits.
4. All individual applicants must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.50 (unless a higher GPA is specified in the award criteria).
5. Rising sophomores are defined as students who entered the College in Fall 2007 or Spring 2008, or transfer students who have fewer than 64 credits by the close of the Spring 2008 semester. Rising juniors are defined as student who entered the College in Fall 2006 or Sping 2007, or transfer students who have between 64-95 credits. Rising seniors are defined as students who entered the College in Fall 2005 or Sprng 2006, or transfer students who have 96 credits or more. Current seniors are defined as any student with 97 credits or more.
6. Several scholarships and awards are need-based. Individual student eligibility for awards and scholarships will be determined by information previously submitted to the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Students who receive financial assistance and are applying for a scholarship or award are responsible for determining how this may impact their financial aid package.
7. Student organizations shall be defined only as those student groups who are currently recognized by the Student Government Association and registered with the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development, both at the time their program occurred and at the time of application.
8. Athletic teams shall refer only to TCNJ varsity athletic teams. SGA recognized club sport teams may apply as student organizations, where applicable. Intramural teams are not recognized by the Student Government Association and are therefore ineligible for awards.
9. Residence hall staff groups shall refer to no less than 3 or more staff members from the same residence hall or townhouse complex who co-sponsored a program or activity together.
