Committee for Cultural and Intellectual Community (CCIC)
Programming Theme 2006-2007
Does Integrity Matter is the theme for CCIC sponsored programs in 2006-07. Faculty and first year students will explore this theme by reading and discussing The Palace Thief as part of the summer reading program. The theme also will be investigated in a variety of academic and cultural programs offered by faculty and student groups throughout the 2006-2007 academic year beginning with Community Learning Day.
Community Learning Day will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006. Ethan Canin is the featured speaker. Mr. Canin has written For Kings and Planets, The Palace Thief, Blue River, Emperor of Air and most recently Carry Me Across the Water. His fiction has been published in The Atlantic, Esquire, Ploughshares and The New Yorker.
12:00-1:30 PM LECTURE
1:30-2:00 PM BOOK SIGNING & RECEPTION
The theme has been developed to support programming that is already planned as well as encourage the development of new programs. We invite individual community members, campus departments and student organizations to develop programs related to this theme. Campus Community members are also invited to participate in the development of Community Learning Day as well as other programs.
Finally, the CCIC welcomes suggestions for a Suggested Reading List to provide added voice and perspective to our investigation of the theme. This list will be shared with the campus community along with promotional materials for thematic programs next year.
Please consider joining our efforts to support intellectual and cultural growth on our campus. We welcome your ideas and encourage your involvement in program planning. To serve on the CCIC or Community Learning Day Committee please contact Celia Chazelle, chazelle@tcnj.edu or Robert Anderson, randerso@tcnj.edu.
Thank you.
