Counseling and Psychological Services
The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to support the academic goals of the College through assisting students with personal challenges that interfere with their academic progress. We encourage students to attend to all of their developmental needs, whether they be academic, personal, physical, interpersonal, social, or spiritual. Toward this end, we provide an environment that is safe, confidential, and supportive. Our work is guided by the ethical and practice standards of our professions, with the goal of providing the best services possible.
CAPS is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc.
Our Spring Semester Hours:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays: 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thursdays and Fridays: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Setting up a first session @ CAPS: We recommend using the the Center for Student Wellness web portal that we have been creating for your convenience and privacy. Navigate to tcnj.medicatconnect.com and log in using your TCNJ user ID and password. Once logged in, click on 'Forms and Resources' and use the Request for Services (RFS) form to provide the needed information. Please note that completing a RFS will take approximately 15-20 minutes of your time. This gives us valuable information that helps us make the best, most effective use of our brief model and assists you in reaching your goals in a more timely fashion. Once it is complete, click 'Submit' and you're done! Our response to set up your first appointment will be through your TCNJ email address, so look for it there.
Important: Here are some tips to help avoid any frustration using this online service: 1) Be sure to allot sufficient time to complete the RFS in one session; the online service does not permit leaving the form and returning. 2) The online service does not fully support mobile devices (i.e. smart phones), so a 'regular' computer is best. 3) If you encounter any bugs using a laptop and WiFi, switching to a desktop/wired combination will generally resolve it. Thanks for your patience as we work to eliminate any 'bugs' in the online service.
