Accomodation Statements: For Faculty
The best accommodations are unique to the individual and can develop from a cooperative relationship between the faculty member and the student, utilizing the assistance of the ODAS as needed. Instructors are encouraged to facilitate an open and comfortable line of communication between themselves and their students by including a statement in their syllabi.
An example is:
"Any student who has a documented disability and is in need of academic accommodations should notify the professor of this course and contact the Office of Differing Abilities Services (609-771-2571). Accommodations are individualized and in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992."
In addition, faculty should also be aware of campus event accommodation considerations when planning course-related trips and events.
