Sample Accommodation Statements for Campus Events

Campus organizations and event planning committees may use the following suggestions for accommodation statements.  These statements should appear in any format that advertise the event to the campus community.

 

Broad, generic accommodation statements:

•"Individuals with a disability who may need accommodations are requested to contact (name of unit) at least two weeks in advance of this event so that efforts can be put forth to arrange appropriate accommodations.   Please call (phone number) or email (contact email address) to arrange for assistance." 

•"If you have questions concerning access, wish to request a sign language interpreter or accommodations for a disability, please contact (Contact name, phone and email).  Early requests are encouraged."

 

"This Week At TCNJ" announcement:

•"(Title of event, time, location, description, and admission/ticket info).  For disability accommodation requests, contact (Contact name, phone, and email)."

 

For vocal music events:

•"Individuals who are hard of hearing or deaf, and who are requesting assistive listening devices or sign language interpretation of this performance (choir concerts; musical plays; operas; any musical performance where vocalization is integral) are requested to contact the Events Coordinator at (phone number and email) at least two to three weeks in advance of the expected date of attendance so that efforts can be put forth to arrange appropriate accommodations."

•"Anyone requiring an alternate format of this information or anyone requiring an interpreter may contact (name of entity, phone number, email address) . Preparation of information will take 48 hours from time of request, once the material is available."

•"Information available in alternate format upon request."
