TCNJ Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) 2009-2010 Waiver Procedures
Full-time students (undergraduates enrolled in 3 or more units per semester and graduate students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours per semester) with other health insurance can OPT OUT of automatic enrollment in the student health insurance plan if they submit a Waiver Application Form during the waiver period prior to the beginning of EACH SEMESTER. Opting out (instead of opting in) of enrollment in the student health insurance plan is necessary to ensure compliance with N.J. State Law (N.J.S.A. 18A:62-15).
Please note that this procedure only pertains to FULL-TIME students. Part-time college students are not required by N.J. State law to maintain health insurance and therefore are not automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan.
Students who are interested in keeping the student health insurance but are not registered full-time (3 or more units: undergraduate students; or 9 or more credit hours: graduate students) will NOT be enrolled in this Plan by the College. They must enroll on their own by submitting an enrollment application and premium payment to Bollinger Insurance Solutions. The enrollment form can be found at www.bollingerinsurance.com/tcnj .

Waiver applications are only accepted during the Waiver Periods listed above. Students who do not submit a Waiver Application Form during the waiver period will be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and responsible for payment to The College of New Jersey for the insurance premium.
A student's waiver period begins when he/she receives an e-mail from the Office of Student Accounts informing the students that his/her full time tuition bill is posted online and payment is due. This e-mail will provide the link to this page. The Waiver Application Form can be found at the bottom of this page.
All international students, matriculated and exchange, must purchase the Student Health Insurance Plan. No international student can opt out of this coverage.
Once a student has submitted a Waiver Application, it will be reviewed. If accepted, the fee for health insurance will be credited to their account after the waiver deadline date.
Changes in the student health insurance waiver procedures will and do change. Students are informed of these changes promptly by e-mail to their TCNJ address. E-mail is the primary and official means of communication at TCNJ and students are responsible for the content of their TCNJ e-mail. It is a College expectation that students carefully read their TCNJ e-mail at least twice weekly YEAR-ROUND regardless of where they are.
NOTE - All TCNJ students currently taking classes are eligible to use Student Health Services whether they have health insurance or not.
