About the Travers & Wolfe Fitness Center

The Travers & Wolfe Fitness Center (TWFC), in conjunction with the Physical Enhancement Center, offers a wide range of classes including step, kickboxing, self-defense, yoga, and basic aerobic workouts.  These classes are taught by certified fitness instructors and are offered to students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Class Descriptions

Basic Step & Abs

The basis of this class involves Step Aerobics.  Different techniques and combinations are changed each week to vary the workout.  Class ends by working the abdominals, and listening to Disney music

Body Sculpt

30 minutes of muscular strength exercises designed to give you that sculpted body you've always wanted. Works all the major muscle groups: arms, legs, butt, and abs!

Butts and Guts

Tone and shape your core through a series of holding and weight training exercises.  Includes 5-10 minute warm-up, and 40 minutes of exercises focusing on your obliques, upper abs, lower abs, and glutes.  Sculpt and define areas which can be the most difficult

Cardio Aerobics

A mix of high and low intensity cardio and zone specific toning.  This class includes lots of movement and you'll definitely work up a sweat!

Jazz

This class is for anyone who loves to dance. Each week the class will learn new dance skills, improve flexibility, strength, and cardio, and learn a new dance. At the end of the semester, anyone in the class who likes to perform will be given the option of participating in an optional recital.

Kickin' It:  Abs & Arms

This class, which is based on aerobic and martial art drills, helps develop, train and enhance the muscles of the abdomen and arms, as well as provide an intense aerobic work-out. The class will increase your flexibility, stamina and help tone the body.

A Little Cardio, Toning, & Abs

First, warm-up with some Step Aerobics and kickboxing.  Toning is done using a circuit training approach, and works all muscle groups.  Abdominals are worked throughout the class, and are targeted at the end, just before a relaxing cool down with great music!

Pilates

This class uses low impact exercises combined with weights, balance balls, and medicine balls to create length, strength and flexibility in muscles. Pilates also promotes proper posture and its wide range of exercises makes it perfect for all fitness levels!

Power Yoga

An intense cardio/strengthening work out! This class flows from one yoga position to the next at a fast pace to get heartrates up, while stretching and strengthening all muscle groups. Prepare to sweat! Accomodates all levels.

Step N' Tone

This high intensity class combines intervals of step aerobics with different kinds of resistance training. It includes a cardio element, upper and lower body toning, and an abdominal workout. Take an hour of your day to work your entire body while having fun!

Step On It

Get away from the treadmill and back on the step! This class consists of new and innovative choreography to help you get a high energy workout in while having fun at the same time!

Toning Essentials

Get definition through weight training exercises, with the use of balance balls, medicine balls, and body bars.  Some cardio will also be involved to get that heart rate up!  This class targets all muscle groups!

Toning & Flexibility

This class combines muscle toning exercises, using weights and balance balls, to strengthen our whole body, with thorough stretches to promote greater flexibility, range of movement and energy.

Ultimate Kickboxing

High-energy workout based on Tae Bo! Various combinations of punches, kicks, and jumps create the ultimate cardio workout that will work your body! Segment for abdominals at the end.

Wake Me Up

Get your workout over and day started right with this high energy cardio/resistance training class. Class combines cardio type hi/lo moves with resistance training to get your heart beating and muscles burning early so your brain and body is ready to tackle the day!
