Actuarial Study Made Easier for TCNJ Students
The Society of Actuaries has informed the Mathematics and Statistics Department that students will receive full Applied Statistics credit for the course "Regression Analysis" (STA 305). Full Economics credit will be given to students who complete courses "Microeconomics" (ECO 101) and "Macroeconomics" (ECO 102). This is excellent news for students interested in taking the new minor in Actuarial Studies. In this way students will take fewer exams to become an actuary. Thanks to David Holmes of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics for arranging this with the SoA.
Dr. Holmes has enhanced actuarial study at TCNJ in another way, also. He established a link between TCNJ and ACE, one of the top global insurance enterprises, located in Philadelphia. TCNJ students interested in becomimg actuaries will now have the opportunity to gain "hands on" actuarial experience by working for ACE in a summer intern program. ACE provides coverage for various risks which include Aerospace, Marine, Farm, Professional Liability, Property and Warranty. Dr. Holmes will be the actuarial recruiting liaison between ACE and TCNJ.
