Computer Science Professors Present Papers at ACM Conference

Computer Science professors Dr. Monisha Pulimood, and
Dr. Peter DePasquale present academic papers at SIGCSE 2006 Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education. The conference was held March 1-5, 2006 in Houston, Texas.

Drs. Pulimood and DePasquale co-presented a paper entitled "A Model for Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences in Emerging Technologies". This paper was co-authored with Dr. Deborah Knox, Interim Dean of School of Science, following the successful implementation of the department's summer research experience for undergraduate students last year. Drs. DePasquale and Pulimood discussed the benefits to faculty in terms of advancement of scholarship, and to students in terms of experiences and technologies that they are not typically exposed to in the traditional curriculum.

Dr. DePasquale's second presentation is "Exploiting On-line Data Sources as the Basis of Programming Projects".  This talk will detail a number of interesting real-world data sources Dr. DePasquale uses in his course projects rather than traditional fixed-data input files.
