Computer Science Seniors Megan Thurber and Rita Lee Participate in Computing Conference
Megan Thurber and Rita Lee, Computer
Science Class of 2005, participated in the Grace Hopper Women
in Computing Conference October 6-9, in Chicago. The students
led a discussion on "The Value of Research Experiences to Undergraduate
Students." This year, 850 women computer scientists attended
the conference from academia and industry. Both students received
scholarship awards for housing from the Grace Hopper organization
to help fund their participation. Additional funding from the School
of Science enabled their trip. The conference was sponsored by the
Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and the Association
for Computing Machinery (ACM). More information on this conference
and future events can be found at www.gracehopper.org.
