Papers Published by Mathematics Professors
Cynthia Curtis and Tom Hagedorn, of the Mathematics & Statistics
Department, have newly published papers. Dr.Hagedorn has written
a paper entitled "Zeros of a Real Linear Recurrence of Degree
at Least Four", which has been published in "Comptes Rendu",
Reports of the Academy of Sciences, Canada (2005). Dr.Hagedorn is
an invited speaker at a "Special Session on Algebraic Statistics"
at the American Mathematical Society's annual meeting in San Antonio,
Texas in January, 2006. Dr.Hagedorn and Karen Clark, also of
the Mathematics & Statistics Department, will present a poster
entitled "Integrating ATLAST Linear Algebra Problems into Webwork"
at the same meeting. This poster describes their work developing software
modules for Linear Algebra and is part of an NSF/DUE invited poster
session.
Dr.Curtis has written a paper entitled "The SL(2,C) Casson Invariant
for Seifert Fibered Homology Spheres and Surgeries on Twist Knots"
with H.U. Boden. This paper has been accepted by the journal, "Journal
of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications". Another paper written
by Dr.Curtis was accepted for inclusion in the volume "Geometry
and Topology of Manifolds" of the Fields Institute Communications
book series. This paper, entitled "A PSL(2,C) Casson Invariant",
will be published by the American Mathematical Society in December
2005.
