Oil Reservation Simulation - What's going on down there?

Dr.Jonathan Holmes, a scientific advisor with the Schlumberger Co., will present "Oil Reservation Simulation - What is going on down there?" on Thurs Oct.5, 2006 in SC P229.  A reservoir engineer needs to know what is happening in the reservoir in order to make informed decisions, but a reservoir is like a black box with a few very small windows.  This presentation is part of the Mathematics & Statistics Department Seminar Series. Dr. Holmes has thirty years experience in writing simulators for oil and gas reservoirs and a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Oxford University.  All are welcome.
