Student Receives Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship

Katherine Uyhazi has been awarded a Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship in the amount of $5,000. This is a highly competitive award, of which only 60 are given nationwide. This fellowship will be applied to Katherine's participation in a joint MD/PhD program. Katherine has been accepted at Yale University, the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University, which is associated with Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Rockefeller University. She will choose among these for her future study. According to Dr. Steve Klug, there is no higher achievement in science education than such a joint degree.

The mission of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others". Students receiving this fellowship are committed to a career involving research.
