Tri Beta Chapter Winner of
Lloyd M. Bertholf Award
The TCNJ chapter of Beta Beta Beta Biological Society, Chi Upsilon, has been chosen the winner of this year's Lloyd M. Bertholf Award. The president of Beta Beta Beta, Gary Wolgamott, stated that "an immense amount of effort by both the advisor and the students goes into achieving this enviable award", which was first established in 1961. A contingent of students from TCNJ accepted the Bertholf award on behalf of the Chapter at the Tri-Beta District Convention March 26, 2006, held at York College of Pennsylvania. In addition, Joan Soon and Daniel Fox received honorable mentions for the research presentations that they made at the convention.
The award is based on member activity in conducting and publishing research, participation in district and national conventions and other scientific meetings, chapter programming and activities, and orderly record keeping and communication with the National Office. Only activities of the preceding year are considered. The advisor of TCNJ's chapter is Dr.Don Lovett of the Biology Department. There are more than 430 chapters throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
