the fundamental idea behind iMMV - short for "i make music videos" - is to allow users to create
their own music videos using photos and videos they have already taken that are custom and personalized for those users.
we are attempting to create a program that will be so intuitive and easy-to-use, that it will be added as a feature
in all future apple products. to do this, we must create an application that is extremely simple, yet has the capability
of allowing users to create interesting, aesthetically-and-aurally captivating media content in the form of music videos (MVs).
in an age in which MVs sometimes have as much impact on an artist's career as his/her music, we look to enable the general public
to create their own. if we can accomplish that goal, we can change the way music videos are regarded and perceived by the masses.
currently, the web is full of applications that allow for users to make "SLIDESHOW" videos.
we are taking this idea - and by using our knowledge of music and rhythm -
making it so that ANYONE can make a quality MUSIC VIDEO.
the application will ask users to insert introducing and concluding title content, in text form.
the program will then ask that user to choose a number - most likely a multiply of three or four -
of photographs (from their iPhoto library) to be used as the main content of the music video.
eventually, users will also be able to insert dynamic videos.
then, the code of our app will take the photos and insert transitions (fades, wipes, etc.)
based on the BPM number of the chosen song. at first, we're going to choose the songs for which our program makes videos.
there will be set start and end points (succeeding and preceding the intro and outro titles) that let the app know when to start
displaying the photos selected and when to stop displaying the pictures so that videos flows well with the submitted titles.
unlike the plethora of slideshow applications our there, our program will actually use music theory and the rhythm of a song
to make our videos; thus, the aesthetic quality and overall production value of our exported media will be superior.
eventually, we could make it so that videos can be edited based on the more detailed arrangement of the song.
there would be different transitional sequences based on the verse, chorus, breakdown, etc. composition of the song.
the ideas are limitless. we could very easily create tutorials,
teaching both the young and the old how to: play music; speak, read, or write;
use the tools of mathematics; understand the world's political and physical geography;
learn about the past through studying history, use the breakthroughs of science, etc. through MVs!
