Non-Medical Exceptions

Students who can demonstrate a compelling need or would suffer undue hardship may petition for an exception. Particularly, exceptions are considered for:

  • EMT/Firefighter involvement: must provide a letter (on letterhead) from the chief of the EMT unit or firehouse stating that you are currently employed/volunteer and the days and times that you work and/or are on call. This letter must state the exact mileage from The College of New Jersey that your organization operates from.
  • Family emergency situations: must provide a letter on letterhead from the sick/disabled family member's care provider (doctor/hospital) stating that the student is the only relative available to provide family care or supports your need to travel quickly due to a serious family illness.
  • Other requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Under no circumstances, other than EMT/Firefighter involvement, will a parking exception be granted for student employment purposes.

For all Non-Medical parking exception requests, please provide a completed Parking Policy Exception Request Form and the appropriate documentation listed above.

If your Request for Exception Is Approved

If your request for exception is approved, you must bring your current vehicle registration card. The vehicle must be owned either by yourself or an immediate family member (mother, father, brother, sister, etc.) You will not, under any circumstances, be permitted to register a vehicle owned by another TCNJ student or their family. You must also submit the required fee for that semester's resident student parking decal.
