Student Vehicle Registration
The only students who will be permitted to register a vehicle on campus are as follows:
Commuting Students
Students who live off campus and use motor vehicles to commute to class. One automobile and one motorcycle may be registered. Upon acquiring campus housing, previous commuter students with valid commuter decals must relinquish those decals to The Office of Student Accounts within fifteen days of the move. Decals not removed are automatically revoked.
Resident Students
Resident students in the senior, junior and sophomore year may register their vehicles to be parked on campus. Should a resident student change to a commuter student status, they must relinquish their valid resident student decal in exchange for a valid commuter decal within fifteen days of the status change. Decals not returned are automatically revoked.
Freshman resident students are only allowed to register a vehicle on campus for a maximum of two weeks per semester after paying the required fee. However, students who can demonstrate a compelling need or would suffer undue hardship due to this restriction can petition for a parking exception.
Refund Policy
Students who purchase a TCNJ parking decal for the fall and/or spring semester of any given academic term may return their parking decal to the Office of Student Accounts for a refund based on the original purchase price. No refunds will be processed unless the actual parking decal is returned to The Office of Student Accounts.
The College of New Jersey uses the following policies to determine the amount of the refund:
- A student who returns their parking decal to The Office of Student Accounts before the official end of the add/drop period shall receive a 100% refund of the applicable purchase price of the parking decal for that semester.
- A student who returns their parking decal to The Office of Student Accounts after the official end of the add/drop period but before the end of the fifth week of classes in the fall and/or spring semester(s) shall receive a 50% refund of the applicable purchase price for the given semester.
- After the official end of the fifth week of the semester The Office of Student Accounts will no longer process refunds for parking decals.
Violations
New Jersey State motor vehicles and traffic laws and Ewing Township
traffic ordinances are applicable on campus. Any person observed operating
a motor vehicle on campus including in the parking lots, without caution
or circumspection, or in a manner showing disregard for lives or property,
shall be guilty of careless driving and will be so cited. It is a
violation to operate any motor vehicle on any of the walkways.
Speed Limit
The speed limit is designated 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
