This site from the University of Maryland at College Park has been designed to provide information concerning students with disabilities and accommodations in the college environment. The site provides a brief summary of disability accommodations and the law, and a list of services which can be provided. Though this list is specific to those at the University of Maryland, it can be used as an illustration of the types of services a person with a disability can request at other campuses. Also included are accommodations for the more prevalent disabilities, e.g.; learning disabilities, visual impairments, physical, hearing, psychological and speech/language impairments. Other less common disabilities are also discussed. Lastly, there is a short guide on the importance of using person-first language. The information provided by this site is useful to students with disabilities, their peers, college staff and faculty.
