Adaptive Technology Center for New Jersey Colleges at
The College of New Jersey

The mission of the Adaptive Technology Center for New Jersey Colleges is to increase opportunities for college students who have disabilities to meet the academic demands of college through access to appropriate technology tools. Funded by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education, the center provides the following services:

Information Dissemination: Through a web site (which is under construction) and a print publication (TECH-NJ), information on exemplary practices in adaptive technology is made available to college faculty, Disability Support Services staff, and students with disabilities at New Jersey's colleges and universities.
Adaptive Tech Lending Program: The center maintains an inventory of hardware, software, and assistive devices which can be borrowed by college students who have disabilities (through their campus' Disability Support Services Office) for a trial period.
Outreach and Training: Technology training workshops will be offered at colleges around the state to increase the awareness of adaptive technology among students with disabilities and Disability Support Services staff.

The Adaptive Technology Center for New Jersey Colleges works closely with seven other Special Needs Regional Centers (five for students with learning disabilities, two for students who are deaf/hard of hearing) around the state so that college students who have disabilities receive the information, training, and technical assistance they need to use adaptive technology effectively.
