Who are we?

The Siren is a College of New Jersey publication that provides a venue for literary and artistic contributions from the campus community. It is one of two literary magazines at the College, the other being The Lion's Eye.

What is the difference between The Siren and The Lion's Eye?

Where The Lion's Eye strives to publish more contemporary works, we strive to publish a collective smattering of everything that is creative, original, and unusual in nature.

Who can contribute to The Siren?

The Siren accepts submissions from undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni.  You do not need to be on staff to submit to The Siren.

Who can be on staff?

Any undergraduate student can be on staff for The Siren.  You do not need to be a creative writing student or a contributer to be on staff.

How does The Siren staff determine what goes in the magazine?

Poetry and prose submissions are anonymously reviewed and voted in by the staff following a series of discussion meetings.  The editors determine how many pieces go into each issue and may exercise additional discretion. Photos and artwork are selected at the discretion of the art director.

What kinds of work is The Siren looking for?

While we will accept anything of quality, we are constantly on the lookout for that which experiments with style and form, offers unique perspectives or deals with content that is refreshing and eye-opening.

What kinds of work isn't The Siren looking for?

We would prefer that you don't send work that is gimicky, clichéd, overly familiar, trite, incomplete, or better suited to a Hallmark greeting card.
