as i race down the runway streets
Amoco idling on the left
a car pulls in its never mine
Instead i push the gas till engine combustion
and pull the wheel leftright
slipping down the sideways street
the moon smashed
into the top-left-corner of my windshield
nevermore
the way i drive it takes 5 minutes on those blue streets
for me to press play and bust out the blues
10 more for drive divided by the way i collide with hard hearts
i press the doorbell thinking bout the blues nonstop
the rhythms cold in mind the distance over time
and i imagine the velocity of her arms and mine
as we go blind and our hard hearts break down
into the blues
these thoughts are love and as i race home
my car relative to my girlfriends heart
her blues still warm against my breath
the long road reeks quiet and cold
of the subtle distance between two hearts
and the time it takes to race down a highway
and never look back
