HOW TO APPLY:

Information Sessions are held annually in February for students who are interested in applying to become tutors the following fall semester. 

ALL applicants for fall employment must attend an Information Session to learn about the requirements, the work of peer tutors, the application process, and the pay scale.  

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Applicants must have completed two full-time semesters at The College of New Jersey by first semester of employment.

  2. Applicants must attend an Information Session.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.00, with grades of B+ or better in courses to tutor.

  3. Applicants must submit three TCNJ faculty references.

  4. All tutors must be available and willing to tutor at least five hours per week.

  5. All new tutors must take IDS 291, Techniques in Tutoring I, during first five weeks of first semester of employment.  New tutors who also want to tutor writing must take IDS 292, Techniques of Tutoring II/Writing, during the second five weeks of first semester of employment.  

 

Preference will be given to applicants who want to tutor writing as well as course content.
