Favorite Movie: Rocky
Actually, the whole Rocky series can go here. For me, Rocky isn't just about a second-rate actor (Sylvester Stallone) jumpstarting his career and then milking it for all it's worth with four sequels (five sequels after Rocky 6 is released in the next few years). Rocky is about the American dream and overcoming the odds, not to mention intense fight sequences and outstanding soundtrack in each film. As an athlete, these movies serve as more than just cinema; they serve as an inspiration and a reason to go on in athletics. Just watching one of these films is like instant adrenaline. Just writing about it makes me have to go for a run right now…

Favorite Band: Million Time Winner
ll I have to say is they rock. The rock/punk band is from the Red Bank area, my hometown, which makes them cool. They just came out with their first music video, The Broken Line. They'll be big and you can say you heard them long ago. Check out their web site www.milliontimewinner.com if you want to be one of the cool kids. Also they're CD is only $10, which is good because I'm poor and Ramen is icky.

Favorite Show: Alton Brown's Good Eats

Take fun, food and science and what do you get? Alton Brown's "Good Eats." His sense of humor is even evident in his show titles such as Zen and the Art of Omelet Maintenance. A pleasant change from more structured shows such as “30 Minute Meals" and "Wolfgang Puck,” Brown's off the wall antics and frequent skits, jokes and experts create a cooking show that even guys love. Brown shows his viewers how to make a smoker out of a cardboard box or homemade pickles. Check out this show for a refreshing take on an old concept.

Favorite Evening Out: Buddy's Shamrock Tavern

Are you of age at TCNJ and not up for a wild night of dancing with random people, waiting on lines for the bathroom, and losing your friends at Kat-Man-Do? If you like to go out, but are more of the bar stool than the club type, try Buddy's Shamrock Tavern. Known to most college students and local residents as simply “Shamrock's”, the Irish style pub is a great place to have fun minus the skimpy tank tops. Shamrock's boasts cheap beer: bottles, pints, and the popular pitchers, as well as classis bar challenges like darts, pool, and video games. On any night, Trenton residents and college students mingle at the two-room bar, listening to karaoke or asking for a light. The owner and staff are friendly, and will even bring patrons behind the bar on their 21 st birthdays, and give out complimentary birthday drinks and pint glasses. Do you and your friends want to go out, but don't have a designated driver? Shamrock's will arrange to pick you up in their green school bus, and drop you back at home after a night of sharing pitchers. If you are not in the mood to fit into those black pants, and just feel like sporting jeans and a t-shirt to hang out with friends, “take a shot” at a low-key night out in the Ewing area, and try Buddy's Shamrock Tavern.

Favorite Cookie: Double Delight Oreo Mint'n Creme
I am usually the first one to complain when anyone meddles with a classic, yet in the case of Nabisco's newest Oreo creation, I have nothing but praise.
With a perfect mix of mint and original Oreo ‘creme' placed between two twistable chocolate layers, Nabisco has created the quintessential cookie. Many have tried to create the perfect mint and chocolate combination, yet none have achieved the balance of tastes present in the Oreo Mint'n Creme cookies. The mint is not overpowering, nor is it surpassed by the presence of original creme and both tastes are equally accented by the classic chocolate Oreo cookie layers that we have all grown to love.

Bookstores and news stands have a dizzying amount of magazines. Here are my favorites.
Budget Living: The focus is youthful, DIY, consumerist and kitschy. I can't resist. Plus, any outlet that will help me save money on the things I don't need to buy is very welcome.
Readymade: With its appreciation for the graphic arts worlds, Readymade is a visual delight. More importantly, it is a delight to the craftswoman inside me. This mag is a beacon for all those do-it-yourselfers out there, complete with helpful project directions that include a shopping list. These are not your Family Circle-type of projects, but really empowering stuff.
Organic Style: Here is a more purposeful Real Simple. Do not be turned off by the "organic," as this medium uses the term figuratively, not clinically. It's a lifestyle magazine to be enjoyed by those who enjoy nature, keeping a balance and their sanity, and those people may or may not also enjoy tofu.
