- New Members

The time has come to welcome new members to our organization.  Thanks to
those new members who showed up to Tuesday night's meeting.  We hope you
continue to come and contribue to UPE.

- Programming Contest

We still plan on sponsoring a High School programming contest at the
college.  Brad, Dave, Tim, Karl, Clay, and Greg are working on it.  We
have last year's invitation/application letter.  We will be working on
getting that sent out soon.

- Alumni Event

Our Alumni Event is coming along.  Our speaker will be John Bently who has
been published many times.  He will be doing a lecture about the
quicksort.  Anyone interested in finding out more about him can ask Dr.
Knox.  She has heard him lecture before and has a couple of his books.
John Bently is excited about coming to speak to our college and is
interested in speaking to students.  It would be nice to read some of his
publications before the lecture so we can talk to him better at the event.
We will be sending a letter out to the Alumni to inform them of this
event.  We also plan on calling the alumni to invite them.  Brice
volunteered to put together a bulletin board about John Bently. We will
also put an ad in the Signal about the event.

- Career Services - on campus recruitment

Career services has planned an information session for next wednesday at
10am at Career services.  They are concerned about the lack of
participation of CS majors in their program.  They want to discuss things
CS majors like/dislike about the program and how they can help us better.
They receive many many job offers for CS majors from businesses and have
minimal responses to them.

- Practice GRE

We will be having another Practice GRE fundraiser this semester.  Jim,
Clay, and Brad will be working on more details.

- T-Shirts

An idea has been presented to possibly sell CS t-shirts as a form of
fundraiser.  Many people think it would be a great idea to have a shirt or
multiple shirts with caricatures of CS faculty.  Anyone with any more
ideas or have artistic ability or know someone who does have artistic
ability to get in contact with Dave Watkins soon.  This could be great!

- Phone-a-thon  

Dave Nardone will be working on writing a thank you letter to those alumni
who donated money to us.

- Treasury Report

Our budget for next year is due Friday.  We plan on asking for at least
the same money we got this year and maybe some additional things like
funding for a trip etc.. any ideas on what kind of things we might be able
to get money to fund?  Get in touch with our treasurer Jim Richvalsky.

- Fun Committee

Several UPE members (Karl, Rich, George, Greg....) are in a committee
possibly coming up with fun things to do in UPE.  Share any ideas you have
with them!

- Announcements

The next meeting will be held in Holman Hall 253 at 8:00pm on Tuesday,
February 24, unless otherwise notified through e-mail.
