MINUTES -- UPE Thurs. April 10 HONOR CORDS The honor cords are in and they're looking good! Remember, we are offering any graduating senior the opportunity to purchase the cord for $12. If you plan on purchasing it, please give the money to Jim Richvalsky ASAP, but no later than the day of the picnic. UPE MEMBERSHIP CERTIFICATES For all newly-inducted members of UPE, your certificates are in! See LJ. TREASURY REPORT YEAH! Our budget for next year was passed by the Student Finance Board! We will be getting $274, broken down in the following way: $200 for programs, $64 for publicity and $10 for office supplies. As far as this year's finances go, we have used $36 on a Signal ad to advertise the picnic and we still have $10 for office supplies and $41 for the picnic. THE INFAMOUS PICNIC Okay. Here's the deal with the picnic, to be held on Wednesday, April 23rd from 12-5 behind ABE... We are moving along nicely with the planning and all, and the following things have already been taken care of: Award Money - The CS faculty have selected the winners of the CS Awards, for which we raised the money. We have $735 for awards for this year and next, so we decided on the following breakdown: $75 each for upperclassmen and $50 each for underclassmen. The award winners will be mailed invitations and will be presented their awards at the picnic. Their names will be published in the next minutes. Advertisements - The CS Club sent out a mass e-mail to everyone in the major. If you didn't get it, please let us know. Signal ad - The CS Club designed the ad which will be in this week's issue. Look for it! Allen Drawing Room Reservation - We will be serving the food from there - this is a Wood Dining rule. Picnic Area Reservation - We will be holding the picnic behind ABE and will have tables and chairs to seat 30 people - thanks LJ! Food from Wood Dining - We ordered hamburgers (2 cases, 40 per case, $20/case) and all-beef hot dogs (1 case, 50 per case, $18/case - sorry, we couldn't get Kosher dogs). Grilling - We have two grills reserved (thanks April) and have three volunteers to cook - April, Mark and Joe. Thanks! All of the rest of the planning is broken down into committees and is being taken care of as we speak: Desktop Publishing - Joe will be printing out the award certificates and Dr. Knox and I printed out the invitations to the winners and their parents. Our Food - Jim and Mike will be going shopping to buy the food for the picnic, including hamburger and hot dog rolls, cheese, drinks, charcoal, cups, napkins, plates, condiments, etc. If anyone has some extra money on their meal card and can buy a bag of chips or a bottle of soda, we would really appreciate it! To Bring - The following items are still needed: coolers, garbage cans for ice & soda, spatulas, and an extension cord. Again, if anyone has access to any of these, let us know. Recreation - The CS Club is taking care of all of the recreation, including volleyball and pinatas. If anyone is interested in making pinatas, we will be making them this Wednesday at 3:00 pm in Townhouse East 15 (LJ's house) and painting them next Saturday. CLEAN UP - We still need volunteers to help clean-up after the picnic (around 5:00). Please make every effort to help! As you can see, everything is planned and will be ready to go by the day of the picnic. If you are on any of these committees, please email LJ by next Tuesday with the status of your committee. Remember, this event is for ALL CS majors, so talk it up and bring your friends! It's gonna be a great day! ANNOUNCEMENTS * Spring Day Reminder: Spring Day is TOMORROW, Sunday, April 13th from 10-3.
