Minutes - September 10, 2001

We had our first meeting tonight and went over the following:

- Jeff Condall has gone on hiatus from college and therefore Jen Stern
  has been elected to be the new Vice President to replace him.
  Congratulations to Jen.

- The CS Picnic date is still in the air, but we decided that it would 
  be best to have it late in the Spring 2002 semester instead of this 
  semester.If anyone has any thoughts or ideas for a better time, get
  in touch at a meeting or via email.

- As a community service project we are helping to run/update a website
  for a local Cub Scout troop.  We need one or more members to volunteer
  to update the site.  Christina is currently taking care of it but she'd
  like to pass it off to someone else.  Once again, email or come to a 
  meeting and volunteer.

- We still have an invitation to help with the Phone A Thon.  We would be
  responsible for calling CS Alumni and asking for donations.  It really 
  helps if a CS student calls them instead of a college ambassador as they 
  enjoy hearing about the department, and are more prone to donate to us.  
  Not everyone likes to make unsolicited calls asking for money, but it
  really helps the school and our department, so sincerely think about 
  volunteering.  As of right now we won't be doing it unless we can get a 
  good turnout.

- If anyone has any other ideas for community service, let us know.  It is
  an important part of UPE and any ideas you have can help us out.

- Remember, meetings are at 7:00 PM every Monday for the Fall 2001 semester.
