UPE minutes 9/27/99

Attendance-Kenneth Kolano, Christian Boehnke, Avani Patel

Old/New Business-
Fundraising:
	Tee-shirt Sale: The tee-shirts should be updated to show the recent 
changes in faculty, possibly moving Dr.'s Goldburg and Lee to a separate 
"Memorial" section.

	Phone-a-thon: Phone-a-thon went very well last year and we were 
honored by Alumni affairs to have our pictures taken. This year Phone-a-thon 
would occur the 2nd week of Nov. we need to get some membership behind this if 
we want to do this again.

	Credit Card Apps: I received an email offering us the opportunity to 
do credit card applications like you've probably seen a million times in the 
student center. The thing is we would receive 5$ per application. Even if just 
some club members filled out apps we could easily make 25-50$ and much more if 
we did sit in the student center.

Prudential:
	I received mail from Prudential asking if we would like to set up some 
kind of partnership between them and us. I still need to get in contact with 
the guy from Prudential but what's the worst that could happen we all graduate 
and get high paying jobs at Prudential :)

ACM SIGGRAPH-Princeton Chapter:
	The Princeton Chapter of the ACM will be having its first meeting 
Thursday, Oct. 28 at 8pm at the Sarnoff Research Center on Route 1. Look at

considering going as a group to the meeting.

ACM Contests:
	Anyone interested in doing the ACM programming contest should talk to 
the CS club/Eileen. It's usually a fun day out and you get free stuff like tee 
shirts, and software.


Campus Speakers:
	Our campus speaker events are probably the only reason the school 
gives any kind of budget so we need to get on this for the semester. Avani is 
going to talk with Phil Sanders from the Art dept to see if he or someone he 
know could talk on Computer Graphics/Animation

Membership:
	This topic was supposed to be about handling getting the new eligible 
candidates out for us, but turned into discussion of where the heck our 
current members were! Show up for stuff! Please.

Web Page:
	Last year I was in charge of the UPE web page. But do to time concerns 
its kind of gone to pasture. If anyone is interested in being Web master for 
the UPE page let us know.

Treasury:
	Brice or Treasurer is no longer able to hold the position. Anyone who 
would like to volunteer for the highly esteemed position of Treasurer let us 
know.

Other stuff:
	In order to facilitate discussion/fun/etc. some ideas of stuff for us 
to do this year were brought up including but not limited to: Peer Tutorials 
(on Perl, Java, HTML 4.0 CSS, etc); Group discussions; WWW Link Collections; a 
"Demo" show (with one of those sweet projectors)
